Apartment Cleanout FAQ

Plain answers about scope, access, estimates, timing, and material limits.

What does an apartment cleanout include?

The agreed removal of furniture, bagged or boxed household material, and other approved nonhazardous contents. The exact scope should be reviewed before work.

How is an estimate prepared?

The provider considers volume, material type, furniture size, stairs or elevator access, carry distance, loading conditions, disassembly, and timing.

Do I need to be there?

An authorized contact and clear access are required. Whether that person stays on site depends on the agreed plan and the property rules.

Can items be removed after an eviction?

Only after the directing party has legal authority and property-handling requirements are resolved. The removal crew should not decide legal ownership or abandonment.

Can you use an apartment dumpster?

Only with express property approval and within its rules. Do not assume shared trash facilities can receive cleanout contents.

What items need special handling?

Paint, chemicals, pressurized cylinders, batteries, unknown liquids, asbestos, and other hazardous material require separate direction. Disclose them before scheduling.

Start with the unit, the items, and the access route.

Email the address, unit details, item list, floor, stairs or elevator, and preferred timing.
